Title:
SHIP'S SUPERSTRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62160990
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To use a wind force for generating thrust and improve the economy of a ship's navigation by installing a blade type vane for generating thrust in reaction to an ascending air current rising along the front wall of a super structure. CONSTITUTION:A blade type vane 3 extending transversely is energized slightly aslant forward of the front wall upper end of a superstructure 2. The blade type vane 3 comprises a plurality of vane segments 3-1, 3-2, 3-3 and 3-4, and has an aerofoil section approximately downward. A plurality of support plates 4 support each said segments 3-1 to 3-4 on the superstructure 2 at a suitable slot and interval. When a ship is navigating against wind, the wind changes its flow direction at the front wall of the superstructure 2 so as to give a velocity vector in an upward direction as shown by a dotted line. Consequently, an ascending air current is generated and flows into the blade type vane 3, thereby generating dynamic lift 'L'.
