Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent defects in a shock absorber with an externally installed spring due to the bending of the spring in such a way that friction resulted from interaction by the spring and its rest is reduced by means of holding said spring end with a rotary member such as a ball bearing or abother in a structure equipped with an external spring. CONSTITUTION:A coil spring 6 is tensioned through a rotary member 7 between an upper metal 2 and a bottom metal 4. The rotary member 7 consists of an enclosed type ball bearing, which prevents intrusion of dust, for example, thrust needle roller bearing. If the rotary member 7 is used as the rest member of the spring 6, even though enormous load is applied thereupon, truning of the rotary member 7 prevents occurrence of friction between it and the spring 6. Also, there is no occurrence of bending even if the spring is long and enormous load is applied, so that there is no fear of rubbing the outer periphery of a cylinder or the like.
