To provide a double type shock absorber having such a shock absorbing capacity as to buffer great impact energy.
A shock absorber frame (2) is formed of an upper and lower frames (10, 11), a partition member (15) provided substantially midway between the frames (10, 11), and a first and second coupling frames (13, 14) respectively connecting a front and rear end parts of the frames (10, 11). A first rubber shock absorber (4) and a second rubber shock absorber (5) are respectively provided between a front associating plate (7) and the partition member (15) and between the partition member (15) and a rear associating plate (8) in a pre-loaded state. Prescribed clearances (28, 29) are provided between the front associating plate (7) and the first coupling frame (13) and between the rear associating plate (8) and second coupling frame (14) in an initial state or in a neutral state. When the shock absorber frame (2) is pressed in a Y1 direction, the second rubber shock absorber (5) receives compressive force immediately. The first rubber shock absorber (4) can be extended until the first coupling member (13) exceeds the clearance (28) to abut on the front associating plate (7). After the abutment, the extension is regulated.
