To provide a shock absorber having hardness to have a shock absorbing stroke for obtaining sufficient impact resistance and prevented from instable deformation such as buckling.
In this device, a hard disk drive 2 has a columnar shock absorbing material 3 made of a foaming resin in a lower surface at four corners, plate-like shock absorbing materials 4 and 5 made of a foaming resin in side surfaces, and a columnar shock absorbing material 6 made of a foaming resin in an upper surface at four corners, and a holding member 7 for holding the columnar shock absorbing material 6. Since the holding member 7 is formed into a bellows pipe and easy to be folded in the vertical direction because of the bellows shape, it is unnecessary to raise hardness of the shock absorbing material 6. The shock absorbing material 6 is inserted to be brought in contact with the inside of the holding member 7 to hold the shock absorbing material 6 from the periphery thereof with valley parts of the bellows when the holding member 7 is shrunken by an impact. Buckling of the shock absorbing material 6 is thereby prevented.
