To provide a shock absorbing material which increases the working efficiency in the arrangement of the shock absorbing material when packing is performed, the mounting of an article between packing materials, the fixation of the packing material or the shock absorbing material, and lifting or moving after the packing and so forth.

This shock absorbing material for packing is constituted of a flexible member 1, e.g., a belt, which is fitted on the periphery of an article 5, and a shock absorbing material body 2 which is fixed to the flexible member 1, and at least a plurality of which are provided on the side external from the flexible member 1 to the article 5 when being fitted. The shock absorbing material body 2 is provided in such a manner that a plurality of the shock absorbing material bodies 2 may be arranged at specified positions of the article 5 when being fitted on the article 5. The shape of a plurality of the shock absorbing material bodies 2 corresponds to the shape and the size of the internal surface of a housing-packing material 4 which houses the article 5 and the shock absorbing material for packing, and is equipped with a shape and a size which are fixed to and housed in the internal surface of the housing-packing material 4.
