To provide a shock absorbing member having high shock absorptivity.
This shock absorbing member 1 comprises a front face plate 2 and a backface plate 3 arranged opposedly in substantially parallel each other with a distance, and four connecting plates 4 arranged between the front face plate 2 and the backface plate 3, and for connecting the both. The four connecting plates 4 are inclined with respect to the center line passed through the width-directional central point of the front face plate 2 and orthogonal to the front face plate 2, in its cross-sectional shape, inclination directions thereof are inverted each other, and respective sets comprising the two sheets thereof are line-symmetrically arranged with respect to the center axis O. Projected parts 5 extended more outwards than a cross point part crossed with the connecting plates 4 are provided in all the end parts of the front face plate 2 and the backface plate 3, and relations of 20 mmH100 mm and 0.60(H/L)1.40 are satisfied where H represents a distance between an inner face of the front face plate 2 and an inner face of the backface plate 3 and L represents a half-length of width-directional dimension of the front face plate 2.
