To provide a shock absorbing member reduced in weight in which a web is prevented from being broken, and the web is subject to large bending deformation when the shock absorbing member formed of a 7000 series aluminum alloy extruded profile material is subjected to crushing deformation at a collision.
The aluminum alloy extruded profile material is a composite extruded profile material in which two different types of 7000 series aluminum alloys are welded on each other at extrusion. Front and back flanges 11, 12 are formed of high-Mg 7000 series aluminum alloys with Mg contents of not smaller than 0.9% and not larger than 1.5%; top and bottom webs 13, 14 are formed of a low-Mg 7000 series aluminum alloys with Mg contents of not smaller than 0.5% and smaller than 0.9%. The flanges 11, 12 are stronger than the webs 13, 14, and the entirety of the shock absorbing member is subjected to overaging processing.
