Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for synthesizing video images capable of realizing a video communication terminal capable of providing a cooperative plotting space by connecting multiple spots by solving viewing difficulty due to the decline of contrast generated in the case of translucently synthesizing a lot of video images.
CONSTITUTION: The threshold values Sn of corresponding luminance are independently set for the plural video images Vn (1≤n≤N) to be translucently synthesized. For the entire video images Vn, when the luminance IVnxy of a picture element in a certain coordinate (x, y) is brighter or darker than the corresponding threshold value Sn (processings 501 and 502,) the picture elements of the entire video images Vn are added and synthesized by a set ratio (processing 503.) In the other cases, only the picture elements provided with the luminance IVnxy darker than the threshold value Sn are added and synthesized by the set ratio (processing 504) and either ones are defined as the picture elements Vxy of the synthetic video images (processing 508.) Thus, by changing a synthesizing method for the respective picture elements corresponding to the luminance of the picture elements of the respective video images, the decline in the contrast at the time of translucent synthesis is prevented.
