NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (M is metal, metallic halide, metallic oxide, metallic hydroxide or two Hs; R<1> to R<4> are alkoxy). EXAMPLE:Tetrakis(3-carboxy-4-octadecyloxyphenyl)porphyrin. USE:An LB film-forming agent. PREPARATION:A benzaldehyde derivative expressed by formula II (R is alkoxy) is reacted with pyrrole to afford the objective compound expressed by formula I (group M is two Hs).
