To discriminate whether trouble is in an output circuit system or in a sample-and-hold capacitor system regarding a readout abnormality pixel region and to select an output line on the basis of a result of the discrimination.
A photographing apparatus includes: a photographing unit for setting a plurality of resolutions through binning output defining a plurality of pixels as one set and outputting one set of image data as a pixel average; a setting section for setting a unit of pixels to be one set for resolution setting; a specification section for detecting outputs of an output circuit corresponding to pixels constituting the photographing unit, and specifying a pixel that indicates an output abnormality value; and a selection section for selecting an output circuit to perform binning output so as to exclude the output of the pixel indicating the output abnormality value on the basis of the unit of pixels set by the setting section and a result of the specification due to the specification section.
