PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shopping cart management system that can prevent a shopping cart from being left standing.SOLUTION: A shopping cart management system includes: a detector 4 that reads cart ID information from an electronic tag 2 to detect entry of a shopping cart in a storage area P of a shopping cart 3; an electronic tag reader 5 that reads the cart ID information from the electronic tag 2 in an area other than the storage area P; and a customer information management device 6 (60) that associates the cart ID information read by the electronic tag reader 5 with customer ID information read from a membership card 1. When the detector 4 detests entry of the shipping cart 3, the detector transmits the cart ID information read from the electronic tag of the detected shopping cart 3 to the customer information management device 6 (60), and the customer information management device 6 (60) gives privilege to a customer associated with the received customer ID information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
