PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a shorts type disposable diaper from being torn in the direction of its girths when the side edge of the diaper is torn vertically.
SOLUTION: A shorts type disposable diaper 1 has the side edges 11, 12 of front and rear girth areas 6, 7 overlapping each other and joined together at a joint 9. The side edges 11, 12 of the front and rear girth areas 6, 7 are such that a plurality of sheets forming the side edges join at vertically extending joint lines 18, 19 inside the joint 9.
