Abstract:
To provide a shovel including an electric motor for turning and a power storage system that operate properly even at low temperatures.SOLUTION: A shovel includes: an undercarriage 1; a revolving upper structure 3; a work attachment; an engine 11; a motor generator 12 coupled to the engine 11; a main pump 14 coupled to the motor generator 12 and supplying hydraulic oil to the work attachment; an electric motor 21 for turning that is mounted to the revolving upper structure 3; a capacitor 19; a DC bus 110 electrically connecting the capacitor 19 to the electric motor 21 for turning; and a controller 30. The controller 30 reduces a charge/discharge limit value of the capacitor 19 according to reduction in temperature, and changes a discharge request value that is a maximal value of power to be supplied to the electric motor 21 for turning by the capacitor 19.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
