To provide a shredder capable of reliably preventing a material to be shredded from scattering in a housing part of a case main body.
The shredder 1 is provided with: shredding parts 13, 13 which shred the material (A) to be shredded such as paper and document fed from a feeding port 6 by a driving part 14, disposed on the upper part in a case main body 2; the housing part 2b to which a disposal bin B for storing shredded refuse shredded by the shredding parts is loaded and housed, disposed on the lower part of the case main body; an opening part 15 which opens at least the front side of the housing part and makes the disposal bin freely removable, disposed on the outer circumference surface of the case main body; and a door which is freely openable and closeable, disposed on the opening part, wherein disposal bin loading circumstances detection means 16, 17 which detect either or both of the presence or absence of the disposal bin and the state of accumulation of the shredded refuse in the disposal bin are disposed in the housing part and the movement of the driving part 14 is regulated by an operation of the detection means 16, 17.
