Abstract:
To provide a technique for measuring a shrinkage in solidification of a molten material with greater correctness.SOLUTION: A shrinkage measuring instrument comprises a probe that is arranged within a cavity, formed by a magnetic body and has a laser reflection plate, a laser ranger that has a ranger end arranged in an opening having an opening area smaller than the size of the probe, and a control unit. The laser ranger has an irradiation device and an electromagnet. The control unit, until reaching a completion point of time, energizes the electromagnet to thereby bring about an attraction state that the probe is attracted to the ranger end and, after the completion point of time, ceases the energization to the electromagnet to thereby bring about a separation state that the probe is separated from the ranger end. The shrinkage measuring instrument, after the molten material solidified in the separation state, measures a distance between the laser ranger and the laser reflection plate as a shrinkage using a laser beam irradiated by the irradiation device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
