To obtain the subject new compound comprising an α (2-6) sialylated galactoside block and used for preparation of sialyloligosaccharide useful as an antigen having immunogenicity for preparation of antibody, an immunoadsorbent, etc., as an oligosaccharide hapten.
This new α (2-6) sialylated galactoside block is represented by the formula (Ac is a 1-6C acyl; P is H or a protecting group; Ar is an aromatic residue). The α-(2-6) Sialyloligosaccharide prepared by reacting the block with a receptor saccharide is useful as an oligosaccharide hapten which is an antigen to which immunogenicity for producing an antibody useful for diagnosis and treatment by binding is given or as an immunoadsorbent, etc., for preparation, isolation, removal and purification of the corresponding antibody. The compound is obtained by treating a protected halogenated sialyl whose acid function is blocked as an aromatic ester with a protected galactosyl receptor having unprotected 6-hydroxyl group.
