Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sialyl lactone-bonded polystyrene derivative and its use.
SOLUTION: This derivative is represented by the formula (wherein R is a sialyl lactone residue; and n is an integer of 1 or greater). An influenza virus adhesion inhibitor containing this derivative as the active ingredient has an erythrocyte agglomeration inhibiting effect about 1,000 times higher than that of a sialyl lactone, inhibits influenza viruses from adhering to cells and is useful for preventing infection with influenza.
