To provide a side airbag device restraining an excessive load concentration on a pubis, while protecting the waist of an occupant by a waist protection part.
The side airbag device includes an airbag 50 expanded and deployed between an occupant P sitting on a vehicle seat 12 and a body side part of a vehicle by expansion gas supplied from an inflator 41 according to collision from a side of a vehicle. The airbag 50 includes a lumbar region protection part 54 inflated and deployed on at least a side of the lumbar part PP of the occupant P and protecting the lumbar region PP. In this side airbag, an upward and downward position of a thickest part A of the lumbar part protection part 54 in the vehicle width direction is set on a side lower than a highest part B on a front side of a seat cushion 13 of the vehicle seat 12. By this setting, the part A is inflated and deployed at a part downwardly away from an upper end 63U of the pubis 63 of the occupant P.
