Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the boarding and alighting capability of a vehicle in which a side support for holding a passenger on a seat is automatically opened and closed, by driving the side support so that it is moved to different opening and closing positions at different speeds in accordance with door opening and closing conditions and the presence of a passenger. CONSTITUTION:A driver seat has a slide mechanism and an elevation mechanism including motors M1 through M3 and a side support mechanism including motors M4, M5 which are driven by a CPU 1. In this arrangement, when the opening of a vehicle door is detected, such control is made that the motors M4, M5 open the side support to a first attitude position where the side support is opened at a relatively wide angle, at a relatively slow first speed. Further, when the presence of a passenger is detected, such control is made that the side support is closed to a second attitude position where the side support is opened at an angle narrower than that at the first attitude position, at a second speed (higher than the first speed), while when no presence of a passenger is detected, the side support is closed to a third attitude position where the side support is opened at an angle narrower than that at the second attitude position, at the second position.
