PURPOSE: To reduce the weight of a side trimmer knife by filling the lightweight material in depressed part provided on one side or on both sides of a side trimmer knife.
CONSTITUTION: A hole 2 and a key groove 3 to fit a shaft are provided at the center of a body of a side trimmer knife 1, and grooves 5 are provided as depressed part on the side of the body. The grooves 5 are circumferentially provided on both sides of the side trimmer knife body, and may be arranged on either side or circumferentially arranged at several parts. The arrangement is determined according to balance between the degree of the weight reduction of the side trimmer knife and the securement of the strength. The lightweight material 4 such as plastics is filled in the grooves 5 which are the depressed parts. Because the plastics is far lighter than the steel forming the side trimmer knife body, the filled plastics 4 does not impede the weight reduction largely by the provision of the grooves.
