Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a lift fan and to improve the high speed performance through reduction of water resistance, by ejecting compressed air from the bottom of the side wall of an air-cushion vessel and forming an air layer at the outside of the submerged side wall. CONSTITUTION:Lift air at the under face of an air-cushion vessel is confined by a side wall 1, a stern seal and a bow seal, and floated over a draft 4. Here, the lift air is produced by means of a lift fan 5 and fed to the under face of the air-cushion vessel as shown by an arrow 6. A pair of small pressurizing fans 7 arranged below the lift fan 5 take in the air produced by the lift fan 5 and pressurize said air, then lead the air through an air duct 9 to an ejection hole 10 made through the bottom of the side wall 1 and discharge the air along the outside of the side wall as shown by an arrow 11 so as to form an air layer 12 between the outside of the side wall and the water.
