PURPOSE: To correct electrically color aberration, geometrical distortion and image distortion by generating an image sampling data signal by a camera system and changing an image magnification and a registration factor through required interpolation.

CONSTITUTION: Each color image of a scene 22 is collected by CCD arrays 60-64 through a lens system 24, a prism 26 and color filters 28, 30, 33 of a camera system 100. The light collection is sampled spacially at a specific time interval and a charge packet sample is generated and fed to modifiers 84-88 via digitizers 66-70. Then at first the charge packet is interpolated along rows or columns of the image and interpolated along the column or the row and the image magnification and the registration factor are changed by a required quantity. Thus, the color aberration and the geometrical distortion in the image and the inter-image distortion due to the erroneous arrangement of the image sensor are corrected electrically.
