A CPU (Central Processing Unit) 106 generates a reference value (effective value) of sound pressure level and outputs it to a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) 105. The DSP 105 generates a measurement value (effective value) of sound pressure level, compares the generated measurement value (effective value) of sound pressure level with the reference value (effective value) of sound pressure level input from the CPU 106, and outputs a signal indicating the compared result to a display device 110. Thus, the measurement value (effective value) of sound pressure level can be compared with the reference value (effective value) of sound pressure level every sample synchronously with sampling frequency in an A/D converter 104. Therefore, the measurement value and reference value of sound pressure level can be compared with each other in real time as much as possible.
