To provide a silica removal system capable not only of removing silica from a silica-containing body of to-be-treated water but also of easily inhibiting, regardless of the silica concentration of the to-be-treated water, the concentration of hardness components remaining within treated water at a low level and a water treating method equipped with the silica removal system.
The provided silica removal system 100 comprises a water-soluble magnesium salt addition means 3 for adding a water-soluble magnesium salt to a silica-containing body of to-be-treated water, a filtering means 4 for removing, via filtration, magnesium silicate deposited under alkaline conditions within the to-be-treated water to which the water-soluble magnesium salt has been added by the water-soluble magnesium salt addition means 3, and a water softening means 6 for softening the filtered water transmitted through the filtering means 4. The water treating system 1 comprises an industrial facility 8 possessing a water circulation system and the silica removal system 100, and the silica removal system 100 removes silica from makeup water supplemented to the industrial facility 8 or circulation water circulated through the industrial facility 8.
