PURPOSE: To improve the cushioning properties, drainage and durability of a riding ground by coating sand with a silicone composition that can be cured at room temperature to give a cured material of a specified penetration and spreading the coated material over the ground.
CONSTITUTION: 100 pts.wt. silanol-containing organosiloxane with a viscosity at 25°C of 10-1,000,000cP, preferably undergoing a condensation curing crosslinking reaction and at least having a hydroxyl group bonded to an Si atom at the end of the molecular chain is mixed with 0.001-10 pts.wt. crosslinking agent comprising a hydrolyzable organosilicon compound, 0.001-10 pts.wt. hydrolyzation catalyst comprising, e.g. an organic complex of tin, and if necessary, a filler, a pigment, an auxiliary adhesive, etc., to give a silicone gel composition for a cushioning material for riding grounds. 100 pts.wt. sand such as natural sand is mixed with 0.1-10 pts.wt. of the composition, and this mixture is cured at room temperature to give a cushioning material for riding grounds. The cushioning material with good cushioning properties is obtained from the composition that gives a cured material having a penetration at 25°C with a 1/4 cone consistometer of 20 to 200.
