PURPOSE: To enhance sensitivity and pressure resistance characteristics by incorporating specified flat silver halide grains in an emulsion layer and a specified cyan coupler.in a hydrophilic colloidal layer.

CONSTITUTION: The silver halide color photographic sensitive material has on a support at least one silver halide emulsion layer and this layer contains the flat silver halide grains having an average aspect ratio of ≥2 in an amount of 50% of the projection area of the total grains, and one of the hydrophilic colloidal layers contains the cyan coupler represented by formula I or II in which Za is -NH= or -CH(R13)-; each of Zb and Zc is -C(R14)= or -N=: each of R11-R13, is an electron-attractive group having a Hammett's substituent constant ΣP of ≥0.20; each of R14 and R21 is H or a substituent; R22 is a substituent; Z2 is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form an N-containing heterocycle and each of X1 and X2 is H or the like.
