PURPOSE: To form a desirable dye image, minimize a lowering of coloring density in spite of long-term storage before exposure, and improve coloring dye graininess and three primary colors density ratio B/G value by using a specific two equivalent type magenta coupler.
CONSTITUTION: To a silver halide emulaion layer is added an active site substitution type magenta coupler of formula I or II wherein R1 is H, (non)substituted alkyl, such aryl or such hetero ring radical; R2 is H, (non)substituted alkyl, such aryl, such hetero ring radical, such amino, such carbonamido, such sulfonamido, such carbamoyl or such ureido, R3 is (non)substituted alkyl, such aryl or such hetero ring radical; R4 is ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, isobutyl or (substituted ) phenyl; and R5 is ethyl, n-propyl, isoproply, n-butly or isobutyl. The addn. of the coupler results in a high color developing property, little fog and superior color purity
