PURPOSE: To enhance color reproductivity by using a combination of a pyrazoazole type magenta coupler specified in structure and a specified compound and improving the spectral absorption characteristic of a magenta dye image.

CONSTITUTION: The silver halide color photographic sensitive material has a layer containing at least one of the magenta couplers represented by formula I (R1, R2 is H or a substituent, and X is H or a substituent to be released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine color developing agent), and one of the compounds represented by formula IIa and IIb in which each of R3WR6 is alkyl, aryl, or the like. Said magenta coupler is added, preferably, in an amount of 5W500mol% of silver halide contained in the magenta dye forming layer, and the compound of formula IIa or IIb is added in an amount of 10-5W10mol% of silver halide contained in the layer containing said compound.
