To provide a silver halide photographic material and a method for producing the sensitive material in which such defects as the increase of the number of steps for preparing a coating liquid for each emulsion layer and the increase of the loss of the coating liquid are improved when the silver halide photographic material with plural silver halide emulsion layers different from each other in characteristics and disposed on at least one face of the base by coating is produced.
In the method for producing the silver halide photographic material, a silver halide emulsion coating liquid prepared for coating is divided into two or more parts between a storage vessel which stores the emulsion coating liquid and a coater and a compound reactive with silver halide grains (e.g. a water-soluble mercapto compound) or a component which does not migrate between coating layers (e.g. a microcrystalline dye which is made substantially transparent by development) is mixed in the emulsion coating liquid between the storage vessel and the coater.
