Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a strong color sensitization effect in the red-infrared region and to restrain variation of sensitivity due to fluctuation of storage conditions by incorporating a a specified compound.
SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains at least one of the compounds represented by the formula in which X is a -N=, -N(R)-, -O-, or -S- group; R is an H atom or a hydroxy, aliphatic hydrocarbon, aryl, or heterocyclic group; and Z is a simple bond or a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a 5-, 6-, or 7-membered ring together with X. Preferable ones of these compounds of the formula are compounds having carbazole, or phenothiazine, or phenoxazine skeletons, especially, the ones having the carbazole skeletons.
