To solve the problems of a silver oxide battery containing silver oxide (Ag2O) as an anode active substance and zinc as a cathode active substance comprising the damage of formed compound in forming and the lowering of discharge utilization ratio in the case of charging an increased amount of silver oxide into the battery as far as possible and forming an anode compound having increased bulk density by increasing the forming pressure.
It is clear from the graph of the Figure 1 showing Cooper plots on a semilogarithmic coordinate taking the volume reduction ratio as the ordinate and the forming pressure as the abscissa, the bending point of conventional silver oxide powder shown by the dotted line is present at a high- pressure region and, accordingly, the powder is required to be formed at a pressure higher than the above pressure. The silver oxide powder of the present invention has the bending point of the Cooper plot shown by the solid line at a low pressure in a prescribed range by the proper control of the production conditions and, accordingly, the density of the formed product can be increased with lower forming pressure to get silver oxide having suppressed breakage and high battery utilization ratio.
