PURPOSE: To prevent any two-stage electric potentials and increase the capacity of a silver peroxide battery by means of thin silver-oxide layers by attaching a positive mixture inside a silver-plated metallic ring, and coating parts of the positive mixture which don't touch the metallic ring with said thin silver oxide layer to make a positive body.
CONSTITUTION: After a positive mixture 7 is attached inside a silver-oxide metallic ring 9, parts (a) and (b) which don't touch the ring 9 are thermally treated for a short time so as to form siler-oxide surface layers containing 3∼15wt% of silver oxide, thereby making a positive body. Next, after the positive body is placed in a positive can 1, this is combined with a translucent diaphragm 4, an electrolyte-holding layer 5 and a negative mixture 6 which is placed in a negative can 2 insulated from the positive can 1 by means of a gasket 3, thereby constituting a silver peroxide battery. As a result, the capacity of the battery can be increased by providing surfaces of the positive mixture 7 with silver oxide layers containing over 3wt% of silver oxide which is widely smaller than the conventional content. Besides, the voltage of the battery can be made constant by preventing any two-stage electric potentials.
