To provide a method for efficiently recovering high-purity silver from a silver compound containing bismuth, at a high recovery percentage.
The method for recovering silver comprises at least the steps of: burning the silver compound containing bismuth; adding nitric acid to a burnt silver compound to separate the compound into a dissolvable component and an insoluble component; adding a chlorine compound to the dissolved component to precipitate a silver-containing chloride; and adding an acid to the liquid containing the silver-containing chloride to clean the silver-containing chloride with the acid. The liquid containing the silver-containing chloride before being cleaned with the acid preferably has a pH of 2 or lower, and has an oxidation-reduction potential (ORP with respect to silver chloride electrode) of +150 mV or higher.
