To provide a silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material which exhibits high sensitivity, low fog and high maximum density and excels in silver tone and density unevenness in heat development even when rapidly heat-developed with a small laser imager, and to provide an image forming method.
The silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material has a photosensitive layer containing an organic silver salt, silver halide grains, a binder and a reducing agent on one side of a support, wherein the photosensitive layer has a dry thickness of 4-16 μm and at least one of constituent layers on the photosensitive layer side of the support contains a compound which develops a color in heat development and forms a dye image, wherein a maximum absorption wavelength of the dye image is 600-700 nm. The image forming method is also provided.
