To provide a system capable of accurately searching entirely similar music at high speed.

The system includes an extraction means 5 which extracts from received music data rhythm data, melody data and harmony data of the entire music; a bit string generation means 6 which generates bit strings for each sixteenth note time length from each of the extracted rhythm data, melody data and harmony data; a word generation means 7 which divides the rhythm bit string, the melody bit string and the harmony bit string respectively in 4-beat unit or one bar unit to generate words; and a search means 8 which searches similar music from rhythm word strings, melody word strings and harmony word strings preliminarily registered in a database 10 with the generated rhythm word string, melody word string and harmony word string as search keys.
