Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate the needs to deliver rock specimens of overmuch weight to a laboratory by testing rockbed at the original position.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of rockbed in a position to be tested is finished to a flat surface and an inner groove 3 and an outer groove 5 are excavated in such a way as to surround the rockbed concentrically. The rock between the inner and outer grooves 3 and 5 is crushed and removed to form a columnar specimen 6 in the rockbed. A loading frame 10 is placed over the specimen 6 of the rockbed, and a tensile tester for the specimen 6 is set in the frame 10. Tensile testing can thus be made without the needs to deliver the specimen 6 to a laboratory.
