PURPOSE: To call a word by a simple operation without preparing a user dictionary file.
CONSTITUTION: Name, telephone number, and address are registered in the telephone dictionary data area of an RAM 4. At the time of detecting that a 'calling' key is pressed by a key matrix 5 in a telephone dictionary preparation mode, a CPU 7 retrieves a word using a character string after a cursor position at that point as the leading character string from the telephone dictionary data area of the RAM 4. The retrieved word is inserted into a position designated by a pointer for cursor in an input buffer in a word RAM 7b. The content of the input buffer is transmitted through an input and output control part 7c to an LCD driving part 2 by an arithmetic processing part 7a, and displayed on an LCD 1. Thus, the input word can be called from the user area of the RAM 4 with one operation without preparing the user dictionary file.
