PURPOSE: To reduce the number of times of cutting and sewing works in preparing an umbrella texture for simplifying the process for manufacturing the umbrella texture and saving labor by providing slotted parts only in a plurality of apex parts 4 of the entire apex in a polygonal raw cloth of the umbrella texture to sew both side edges of the slotted part together.

CONSTITUTION: Slotted parts 7 reducing gradually the slot width toward the center hole 5 of a base cloth 3 of an umbrella texture are provided in a plurality of apex parts 4 of the whole apex parts 4 of the base cloth 3 of the umbrella texture cut polygonally according to the number of main umbrella ribs 2. The shape of the respective slotted parts 7 is set on the basis of the shape of doubled parts 8 formed under the doubled base cloth 3 of the umbrella texture when the base cloth 3 of the umbrella texture is deformed from the flat configuration to the cup-like curved configuration while the base cloth 3 of the umbrella texture is adapted to the curved configuration in using the respective main umbrella ribs 2. The respective sewn parts 9 formed by sewing together both side edges 7a of the respective slotted parts 7 are locked on the main umbrella ribs 2. Thus, the number of the slotted parts 7 formed in the base cloth 3 of the umbrella texture can be reduced to substantially reduce the manhours for the cutting and sewing works.
