Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new single crystal of sodium cobaltate having thermoelectric conversion capability and useful for a thermoelectric conversion material and a material of a lithium ion secondary battery material and the like and to provide its manufacturing method.
SOLUTION: When Co3O4 powder, Na2CO3 powder and NaCl powder are mixed, the resultant mixture is heated at high temperatures of about 800 to 1,200°C and then gradually cooled to manufacture the crystal of sodium cobaltate, the single crystal whose molar ratio of sodium to cobalt shown by chemical formula NaCoO2 is strictly 1:1 is obtained by mixing raw materials with the ratio by weight of 3 to 10 parts of Na2CO3 and 5 to 10 parts of NaCl to 1 part of Co3O4.
