Abstract:
A DC voltage circuit interrupter that provides polarity insensitive arc suppression. The circuit interrupter includes two permanent magnets that are positioned in proximity to each of the contacts in the circuit interrupter and is designed to urge an arc that develops between the contacts either toward a first arc extinguisher or a second arc extinguisher depending on the polarity of the applied DC voltage. The circuit interrupter being quick to assemble, lightweight and relatively inexpensive and easy to mount.
