Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain excellent starting and operating properties in a single-phase induction motor by connecting a starting winding connected in series with a main winding and a thermistor and an auxiliary winding connected in series with a capacitor, in parallel with a single-phase power supply. CONSTITUTION:To a single-phase AC power supply 1 is connected a single-phase induction motor 7 which consists of a starting winding 4 connected in series with a main winding 2 and a positive temperature coefficient thermistor 3 and an auxiliary winding 6 connected in series with an operating capacitor 5, connected in parallel with each other. When starting the motor 7 a current flows through the main winding 2, the starting winding 4 and the auxiliary winding 6 to thus allow the motor 7 to start rotating. After the motor 7 rotates at rated speed, the thermistor 3 connected in series with the winding 4 self-heats, and exceeds curie point at temperature to cause remarkable increase of resistance value. Accordingly it becomes off state to substantially isolate the winding 4 from the motor 7 to thus enter normal operating state. In this manner it can obtain excellent starting and operating performance.
