Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sink roll in a continuous hot dip metal coating apparatus having opening holes arranged on side plates so as not to increase the rotational resistance.
SOLUTION: A sink roll 2 is formed as a hollow cylindrical shape provided with a cylindrical barrel part 4 and a pair of side plates 6 integrated with both end parts of the barrel part, and is disposed in a plating bath vessel in the continuous hot dip metal coating apparatus to transport a steel strip introduced into the plating bath vessel along the outer circumference of the barrel part. This sink roll has the opening holes 12 communicating the inner part of the roll with the outer part. These opening holes have an elongated opening in the circumferential direction. When A stands for the length approximately in the diameter direction of the opening hole, and C for the plate thickness of the side plate, a relation of A/C ≤ 1 is satisfied.
