PURPOSE: To produce the sink roll for galvanizing which prevents defects, such as press flaws and roll marks, to impair the quality of plated products and is not applied with excessive rotating torque.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of the sink roll 1 is provided with grooves 12. The width W of these grooves is specified to ≥1mm and the depth thereof is made larger than 1m, by which the clogging of the grooves by dross is prevented. The groove width is confined to ≤2mm and the land width P parting the grooves to ≤2.5mm, by which the roll marks are prevented. Simultaneously, the depth of the grooves is confined to ≤2mm to prevent the application of the excessive torque on the roll. As a result, the happening of the defects on the plated surface is prevented and the durability of the sink rolls is improved.
