Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a sinker device enabling old loops to be pressed down adequately and also ensuring knitting yarns to be guided to a hook.
CONSTITUTION: Needle plates 3 are arranged at equal intervals above a needle bed, at least a pair of front and rear needle beds 2 are arranged in parallel in between the needle plates so that plural knitting needles 4 are retractable in such a mode that the tips of the needle plates 3 come close to each other. In such a flat knitting machine as to have the above scheme, a rockable sinker 24 and a knitting yarn guide piece 22 fixed to the needle beds are each arranged in a laminated state close to the tips of the needle plates; the tip of the sinker is provided with a knitting yarn holder 27, while the tip of the knitting yarn guide piece 22 with a knitting yarn guide surface 37; in this case, said guide surface is so designed as to be located above the knitting yarn holder and also projected toward the proximity of an intermediate position of the tooth gap from the tip periphery of the sinker at its superposing portion with the guide surface, when the sinker is rocked and the knitting yarn holder descends.
