Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form air passages in contacting surface between venting iron wires and a sintering raw material layer and improve air permeating property by a method wherein the group of venting iron wires are sticked fully into the sintering raw material layer smoothed between a cut-off plate and an ignition furnace and the ignition furnace is ignited to sinter the material layer as the iron wires are being sticked.

CONSTITUTION: When a venting iron wire 10, supported by a supporting pawl for a chain conveyer 11, is transported onto a sintering raw material layer 26 on a pallet 3, an iron wire sticking device 9 is driven to grip one end of the venting iron wire 10 by a clamping pawl provided at the tip end of a traversable supporting arm. Subsequently, the supporting arm, which has received the venting iron wire 10, is traversed by about 90 degrees to restore the posture thereof into a vertical posture and, thereafter, the supporting arm is descended to stick the venting iron wire 10 fully into smoothed sintering raw material layer 26. A multitude of venting iron wires 10 are sticked so as to be arranged in zig zag, for example. Thereafter, the sintering raw material layer 26 is carried to the lower part of the ignition furnace 25 and the furnace is ignited to sinter the sintering raw material layer 26 from the surface layer to the lower layer of the same sequentially.
