Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a sizing agent for fiber extremely improving the strength and abrasion resistance of the sized fiber.
CONSTITUTION: A sizing agent for fiber comprises starch and a sulfonic acid group-containing modified polyvinyl alcohol which is produced by saponifying a copolymer of N-sulfoalkyl (meth)acrylamide with vinyl acetate and has a sulfonic acid group content of 0.1-20mol.%, an average saponification degree of 10-99.9mol.%, and a viscosity of ≥5 centipoises in a 4wt.% aqueous solution at 20°C as main components.
