Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an incremental type sizing device having a large maximum measurable length and a large pitch of a gray code and facilitating the formation of the gray code without sacrificing the resolution of the displacement quantity.
CONSTITUTION: A sizing device has a scale provided with two magnetic graduations 16a, 16b with pitches λa, λb respectively and an optical graduation with the pitch divided with the synthetic pitch λc by an integer. The first absolute displacement quantity x1 indicating the absolute displacement in the first pitch λa, the second absolute displacement quantity x2 indicating the absolute displacement in the synthetic pitch λc, and the third absolute displacement quantity x3 obtained when the optical graduation is read out are determined, and the displacement quantity (x) from the origin of the scale is determined from these displacement quantities.
