PURPOSE: To provide a skew elevator which is designed to ensure an escape route for a worker and a rescue passenger in the middle of an elevator shaft by utilizing a landing door when the emergency stop of a maintenance and inspection car occurs, eliminate a need for a worker to walk emergency stairs by a long distance, and improve safety and working efficiency.

CONSTITUTION: A skew elevator is provided at a side wall 1a with a landing door 2 and a passage device 20 having a movable-aside rotatable deck plate 21 and a pair of foldable ladders 31 and 32, which are arranged in the middle of the interior of an oblique elevator shaft 1 having guide rails 3 installed on a bottom part 1b throughout a longitudinal direction and through which a worker comes and goes between the landing door 2 and emergency stairs 11 on the opposite side in a way to cross the guide rails 3.
