PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of the top member of the skid button and to allow the long-term use of a skid pipe by constituting the skid button in a heating furnace for steel products of a base plate member welded to the skid pipe and the top member of the skid button having a specific construction.

CONSTITUTION: The base plate member 10 is welded and fixed by welding W1 to the surface of the water cooled skid pipe P constituting the skid beam for supporting and moving the steel products S in the heating furnace for steel products. The button top member 20 is mounted via a heat insulating material layer 30 to the top part 13 thereof. The button top member 20 is constituted of a top plate part 21 in contact with the steel products S to be heated and a lower neck part 23. The top plate part 21 is formed of the sintered body of a Cr-Fe alloy contg. 50 to 95% Cr or the sintered body consisting of <85% Cr-Fe alloy and the balance ceramics. A core block 16 consisting of a highly thermally conductive alloy is disposed in the cavity part 12 of the base plate member 10 and the neck 23 of the button top member 20 is inserted into an upper insertion hole 15 of the cavity 12. The neck 23 is engaged with a shell block 11 made of a heat resistant alloy in the lower end part to prevent the oxide scale from the steel products S from infiltering between the button top member 20 and the shell block 11 and damaging the skid button.
