To provide a skin care preparation for external use which controls complicated skin inflammatory reactions and has synergistically improved prevention and amelioration effects on chapped skin and skin aging.

This skin care preparation for external use comprises glycogen and one or more kinds of antiinflammatory agents. Glycogen extracted from Mytilus coruscus is preferably used as the glycogen. A steroidal antiinflammatory agent, a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agent, a glycyrrhizic acid salt and a derivative thereof, a glycyrrhetic acid salt and a derivative thereof, an azulene derivative, allantoin, aloin, aloe-emodin, a shikonin derivative, a ginsenoside derivative, a peonol derivative, a crude medicine useful as an antiinflammatory agent or an extract therefrom, or the like, is used as the antiinflammatory agent.
